Sin: A Barrier Separating Us From God
SIN is............................................
• GOING MY OWN WAY ignoring God [REBELLION vs GOD]
• FAILING God's standards [MISSING THE MARK]
• SELFISH rather than God-centred [SELF-CENTREDNESS]
• WANTING TO SATISFY MY DESIRES [PLEASURE-SEEKING]
• DOING WHAT GOD HATES [ DOING EVIL]
ISAIAH 59:1-2 God's arm is not too short to save you. His ears are not deaf to your cries. The problem is your sins have separated you from God - they're a blockage to any relationship with him.
Sin Is Part Of Our Human DNA
The Bible says we were born sinners. If you don't believe it, just watch a baby or young child! That's why King David wrote:
Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner — yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. PSALM 51:1-5
