God's Boundaries 10 in 2

When someone asked him which of the Ten Commandments is the most important, Jesus replied:
“ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour the way you love yourself.’ All God’s Law and what the Prophets said hang on these two commandments."

Jesus' summary is sometimes called THE ROYAL LAW OF LOVE -

•  RULE 1:  LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD with all of you
   (Vertical dimension)
•  RULE 2:  LOVE OTHERS the way you would like to be treated
   (Horizontal dimension)

Jesus' summary of The Ten Commandments in these two rules was designed to show other people we are different by reflecting God’s unconditional love and grace to them. The first rule summarises the first five commandments; the second summarises the last five.
